Congratulations to Glennie girls Amber, Dallas, and Mia who were honoured with 2025 Australia Day Awards.

Amber (pictured above) received the Goombungee Young Community Spirit Award not only for her outstanding sportsmanship and prowess, but for her dedication and character, working hard to achieve her many successes. A talented athlete, she is actively involved across a number sports, as well as girl guides, little athletics, tennis, swimming, running, dressage, showing, jumping, tap, jazz and shooting. Amber competed and was placed in the 2024 State Tetrathlon, as well as being selected to participate in the Queensland State Interschool Team in the Dressage and Show Horse categories. She has won major equestrian titles, including at Royal Shows, and represented Glennie in athletics, inspiring others through her leadership and passion.


Dallas was the recipient of the Junior Sports Award for the Maranoa region – Wallumbilla and surrounds

Dallas was the recipient of the Junior Sports Award for the Maranoa region – Wallumbilla and surrounds. A celebration of all she achieved in 2024, Dallas was recognised for her achievements in various school sports, including triathlon, cross country, soccer, softball, touch football, and futsal. She also earned the title of Barrel Racing 2D Junior Champion and volunteered as a referee for junior touch football in Roma. Additionally, she won the Roma and Battle on the Balonne Enticer Distance Triathlon and is a regular participant at parkrun.


Mia received the Junior Sports Award for the Goondiwindi Region – Inglewood/Texas

Mia had an outstanding year of sport in 2024, earning the Junior Sports Award for the Goondiwindi Region – Inglewood/Texas, a true testament to her achievements. Excelling in Rugby 7s, she was selected for the Darling Downs team, and following her impressive performance at the State Championships, was chosen for the State team. Mia also earned a spot on the Australian Rugby 7s team, which toured New Zealand in December. In addition to these accomplishments, Mia has been training with the Queensland Academy of Sport Rugby 7s emerging program. Mia also displayed exceptional skills in Rugby League last year. Her Darling Downs team secured third place at the State Championships, and Mia has played for both the U17 and U19 Clydesdales teams. Her impressive performances led to her selection for the QLD Country team and, from there, she was chosen for the U17 QLD Emerging team.
