Strings workshop with guest conductor, Louise King

The String Ensembles from both Junior and Senior Years spent a wonderful day working with guest conductor, Louise King this week.

Louise is a vibrant personality and an award-winning, internationally-trained, Australian-made cellist and music education program designer. She “exudes a vigorous artistry that surely appeals to a younger generation of music lovers” (The Australian) and has worked with leading Australian artists such as Kate Miller-Heidke, Katie Noonan, John Farnham, Jack Carty, Karl Williams, Ziggy Alberts, Eric Avery, Joe Geia, William Barton, Fred Leone and Kate Ceberano.

The focus of the workshops were connection, communication and expression working with listening first, then connection to through to the brain, the body and heart – a vital skill for musicians, and more broadly in every day life. It was fabulous for our musicians to experience a day working with a contemporary award winning cellist. Thank you to Louise for visiting our school for the day, and for the staff who worked alongside in the workshop with their String Ensembles and Orchestra, Mrs Vicki Bravery and Mrs Katherine Elsworth.
