Glennie hockey three-peat

When we think of memorable three-peats we think of the unstoppable Chicago Bulls, the 80’s Parramatta Eels as well as John Farnham’s three farewell tours. This week, we can add Glennie’s own victorious Glennie Firsts Hockey Team to that list!

Winning a championship in hockey is the ultimate achievement for any team, and it’s a testament to the power of teamwork and determination. Yesterday, the Glennie Firsts Hockey Team won their third School’s Cup in a row.

Throughout the day, the girls won their round games and did not concede a goal which earnt them a spot in the grand final. The grand final was a thrilling match with Glennie scoring a couple of goals early through Stella Suey and Savannah Patterson. The girls dug deep and had to withstand pressure from St Joseph’s and a lot of time in the Glennie defensive end.

Three girls were in the top five goal scorers for the day with Stella Suey scoring ten goals, Savannah Patterson scoring seven goals and Hockey Captain, Jane Butler scoring five goals.

Congratulations to the Glennie Firsts Hockey team on their Schools Cup success.

“I am really happy that we achieved a win for the third year in a row. The team is always positive, and I think we bond really well as a team.”

“It was great to not concede a goal in the lead-up games to the final, which I think was due to all of us working together as a team for the whole tournament.”

Savannah Patterson – Year 8
