On Friday, our Year 10 Wellbeing groups were involved in Market Day, as part of the national program “$20 Boss”.

The program encourages students to identify issues within their school and local community and develop products and businesses that assist in solving those issues, and provides a tangible way of supporting students to learn, identify and talk about the skills they’re building. whilst helping them better understand their relationship with money.

The girls had to design and produce their product or business with no more than $20 per student, utilising their skills and interests to respond to social issues that their group had identified.

The girls focused on the areas of sustainability, cultural understanding, awareness of flood victims, and supporting healthy living within our school community.

The initiative utilised a number of skills with the girls needing to be imaginative, creative and innovative in identifying and responding to an issue, whilst being able to research, design, produce, market and sell their products and business.

The girls demonstrated significant empathy in recognising local issues and ensuring they were catering to our community. The girls are now required to repay their loans and the money made will be donated to charity.
