The graduating class of 2021 are well-positioned to take the next step in their careers or educational journeys, owing to the range of opportunities presented throughout their senior years of schooling at The Glennie School.

Alongside final results, a significant number of Year 12 students experienced a variety of enhancing programs, providing additional advantages for university entry. These included university enhancement programs, accelerated learning, early entry programs and vocational qualifications. Vocational learning qualifications have also ensured that this year’s Glennie graduates are skilled and employable.

18% of the cohort completed a university subject while at school, gaining valuable adjustment factors added to their ATAR. This provides an advantage for entry across many Queensland universities.

52% of graduates completed vocational courses at a Certificate III and IV level that provides guaranteed entry into a range of university courses.

Before the major-offer rounds, 28% of the 2021 graduates had received an early offer of a university placement at either Queensland or interstate universities and a number of these students received multiple early offers.

A number of significant scholarships have already been awarded to Glennie students, including the Bond University Excellence Scholarship and Sir Samuel Griffith University Scholarship (conditional) and universities will announce many more scholarships once offers are released.

The diverse study choices of our 2021 Glennie girls are testament to our mission, “All She Can Be”, and while Education and Health courses continue to be top preferences, Music, Law, Science, Design, International Relations and Engineering courses feature heavily in students’ study choices. Like previous Glennie cohorts, the graduating class of 2021 have proven to be  career-focused, and have demonstrated a passion for learning and sheer determination to achieve personal excellence.

Students excel in vocational studies.

As part of an individualised academic program, over half of the 2021 cohort obtained vocational qualifications.

  • Combined, this represents 106 courses of Certificate II, III and IV studied.
  • 2 students have already commenced their Diploma of Nursing studies.
  • 25 girls completed their vocational qualification as part of a School-based Traineeship Program. In addition to their certificate courses, each student also undertook over 375 hours of paid employment.
  • 90% of the girls completing a school-based traineeship through the Glennie Aquatic Centre have opted to grow their learn-to-swim teaching skills by undertaking an Education degree.

These vocational studies require self-motivation and personal commitment and provide a springboard for gaining future full-time and part-time employment. The Glennie School’s commitment to making vocational education an individualised and valued senior schooling option has provided our 2021 graduates with viable pathways and career options, as the transferable skills gained through the Program are invaluable in the future world of work.
