For our Year 6 girls, primary schooling is coming to an end. To honour this milestone a celebration night for the girls was held on Thursday, October 14. The Year 6 cohort came together for an evening shared with their friends and teachers to honour the final phase in their junior school journey.

To create a unique and memorable night for the girls, a pop-up-style dinner and dance celebration was organised.  To add to the surprise, a mystery location was arranged, with the girls not aware of our final destination until arrival. The girls met at the Junior Years and travelled via bus with teaching staff to a secure venue.

We arrived at our mystery location, Aberfeldy Farm and Barn, near Wellcamp, with much anticipation, and the girls proudly walked through a guard of honour from their teachers.  Our meal, supplied by Chef’s Lab and the ‘Make your own sundae bar’, was delicious.  Mrs Cass Daniells took the girls through their paces on the dance floor.  The girls all joined in with the line dancing, perfecting their moves with reversals, box steps and shuffles.  The dancing portion of the evening was filled with music and laughter from everyone.

The night was really fun, the venue was beautiful, the food was amazing, and it was really cool to learn how to do some line dancing. The idea of the mystery venue was a good one, as it provoked a lot of suspense and excitement.

Holly Keen (Year 6)

The experience and support of the Junior Years staff was definitely not lost on our students, Year 6 student Alexandra mentioned, ‘This was a great night and I am sure I will remember it forever. The food was delicious and the dancing was super fun! I enjoyed spending time with my friends and the suspense as we didn’t know where we were going was very exciting! Thank you so much to all of the teachers for putting together this amazing event for us.  We really appreciate it!

This night was a wonderful opportunity for our departing Year 6 cohort to celebrate their successes, cement their friendships and form lifelong memories. The photo booth recorded some great moments of the Year 6 girls with their friends, ones we hope they will remember with fondness and take with them as they move on to the middle and senior years. It was so rewarding to see these young ladies celebrate all that they have achieved this year.

A few words from the students and staff

The Year 6 Dinner and Dance was so fun! We had no idea where we were going but we all had a great time. When we got to Aberfeldy Farms we had a divine dinner and the venue was stunning! We had a tasty sundae after dinner and did line dancing after that. Overall the event was indescribable. It was definitely a very memorable moment in my last year of primary school. I will never forget it!
Sophia Kavanagh (Year 6)

I loved it! The place we went to was so beautiful. I felt happy thinking that one day when I’m older, I’ll think back about the dinner and dance, and say, “This was when I was in Year 6, it was so much fun. I wish I was in Year 6 again”.
Amelia McKenzie (Year 6)

The Year 6 Dinner and dance was SOOOOOO much fun because there was so much desert! The line dancing was fun and the lights…Oh my gosh, the lights were AMAZING!
Trinity Munson (Year 6)

The dinner was very exciting in the lead up because it was at a mystery location. I’m pretty sure that no one was expecting Aberfeldy Farms, but it was a great experience. It was also really nice to have most of the teachers who have ever taught us, come to support us on our special night. The food was terrific and the venue looked stunning both inside and on the outside.
Arabella Backhouse (Year 6)

The Year 6 Dinner and Dance was amazing from spending time together with friends to having a delicious dinner and dessert. The dancing was also fun when we got to learn new dances and watch the teachers dance too! This was a great way to finish our last year of primary school as we head off to high school.
Disha Gowda (Year 6)

An amazing and memorable location for the Year 6 girls. It was beautifully decorated with the food including the yummy dessert enjoyed by all. The girls learnt some great dances and were keen to show their talent on the dance floor.
Mrs Rachael Brighton (Teacher)

It was lovely to spend Thursday evening celebrating with the Year Six girls at Aberfeldy Farm & Barn. Many of the Junior Years teachers who had previously taught the girls joined in the celebrations. Music, great food, twinkling lights and lots of dancing made for a very happy and memorable occasion.
Mrs Sonya Vickers (Teacher)

Aberfeldy Farm provided the perfect venue for a relaxed night of food, fun and fancy footwork for our Year 6 girls to celebrate the fast-approaching end of their Junior Years journey.  The presence of the Junior Years Staff, many of whom were there to join in the festivities, was warmly appreciated by the girls.  We were so proud to see their friendship and comradery on display.
